China’s Regional Diplomatic Roadmap: the Past, Present, and Future

　　Editor’s Note: The workshop on “China’s Regional Diplomatic Roadmap” was held on 19 December 2008 in the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The event was chaired by director of the institute, Professor Zhang Yuyan. Scholars and academics from China’s various research institutes and institutes of higher learning attended the event to exchange ideas about the viability of China’s diplomacy in regional processes, its role in China’s foreign policy, as well as China’s regional policy options in the new international environment. In this issue of Contemporary Asia-Pacific Studies, this special section on the workshop proceedings serves as an acknowledgement to the invaluable contributions made during the workshop. 
