Abstract: As a part of global governance, East Asian interregionalism has made significant contributions to resolving the increasingly numerous cross-regional issues faced in international relations. This paper offers a discussion of the concept of interregionalism from both a theoretical and a practical standpoint, deepening our understanding of East Asian inter-regionalism. Based on its theoretical analysis, the paper argues that the balance of power, shared interests and the construction of a regional identity have directly promoted the development of East Asian inter-regionalism. While this may be the case, East Asian inter-regionalism continues to face changes and its development is dependent on a number of related factors.
