Abstract: Based on a review of the current literature, this article offers a theoretical analysis of the concept, evolution, type and characteristics of the ancient East Asian international system. Through the analysis, it points out gaps in the research and suggests paths forward in terms of theoretical methodology.The ancient East Asian international system involves themes considered in both the history of China’s international relations and in international politics, and offers deep practical and theoretical insights for China’s strategy within the modern international system and the development of the East Asian CommunityBy carefully exploring lessons from the history of China’s international relations, the history of its frontier, its nationalities and its military, we can make important breakthroughs in our understanding of the contemporary international system.
