On Chinnamasta

Abstract: Chinnamasta is an important goddess in both Tantrist Vajrayana and Hindu Saktism with a unique image.This paper makes comparative studies of the traditions, imageries and siddhis concerning the goddess in the two sects, trying to probe into and discuss her formation, divinity and symbolic meanings, and explains why she is regarded as one of the supreme goddesses by the two sects.
