‘Satyagraha’: A Centenary Review

  Editor’s Note: This is a Chinese version of a paper specially written for this journal by Prof.Dipak Malik, director of the Gandhian Institute of Studies at Rajghat, Varanasi, India.A centenary has elapsed since Mahatma Gandhi put forth his doctrine of Satyagraha in 1908.His ideas and experiment have exerted far-reaching influence in both India and the rest of the world as well.This paper reviews and discusses the historical process and fate of Satyagraha in both depth and detail, and therefore is very helpful for Chinese readers to understand Gandhi’s mind and practice from the perspective of a senior Indian scholar.Ms.Hu Jing, a graduate student with the Department of Asia-Pacific Studies, the Graduate school,the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, did the translation, and the Chinese version was revised and edited by Prof.Liu Jian, deputy editor-in-chief of this journal.
