A Comparison between the Buddhist and Brahmanic Theories of the Religious Practice

Abstract: The Buddhist and Brahmanic theories of the religious practice are the main content of the two schools’ religious systems.Some core conceptions of these content emanate from Veda and Upanisad in ancient India.In later ages, they have been enriched.The two schools’ theories of the religious practice involve the content of religious disciplines and ethics, the content of meditation or yoga as well, and associate with two schools’ main philosophical conceptions of the world or life phenomena.Comparison and analysis on the content in this respect have important significance in understanding the basic characteristics of Indian religious culture in general.
