Abstract: India’s attitude toward US National Missile Defense system has undergone a dramatic change from serious doubt to support. Presently, under the influence of multiple factors, India has adopted a multi-dimensional strategy to develop its own ballistic Missile Defense systems, ranging from purchasing from the United States, Russia and Israel to developing indigenously. India’s efforts to develop missile defense systems will surely exert great negative effects on the fragile security situation in South Asia.
