The Expansion of Outward FDI: A Comparative Study of China and India

  ABSTRACT: The last two decades has witnessed a significant rise and expansion in the outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) from China and India.This paper tries to discuss the development process of these two countries’ OFDI since the early 1980s, analyzing the major driving-factors and determinants behind their enterprises’ “going out” strategies, and comparing the different structures of their OFDI.Finally it concludes by saying that the FDI from China and India is likely to expand further in the future, as the two giants are aspiring to become substantial regional and global players in their respective industries.
