ABSTRACT: The Astasāhasrikāprajāpāramitā is an important Mahāyāna Buddhist scripture which was translated into Chinese several times in ancient times. By means of comparison of the Sanskrit text and six Chinese versions, this article analyses the features of the Chinese versions in different historical periods, and shows the relationship between the original and its individual translations, so as to examine the historical evolution of Buddhist scripture's translation from the Eastern Han Dynasty (25~220) to the Northern Song Dynasty (960~1279).
