The History and Future of India’s FDI Regime

  ABSTRACT: India’s FDI regime has been experiencing changes since independence, however, it does not have a systematic framework. The present Indian FDI framework and its history are both extremely complicated and disordered. Based on the historical facts, India’s FDI regime experienced four stages, i.e. preliminary restriction, complete restriction, preliminary openness and complete openness. Judging from the history, India’s FDI regime will go in a zigzag way in the future. 
