ABSTRACT: This paper studies India’s foreign policy decision-making process and its decision-making pattern as well. The author analyses India’s foreign policy decision-making in the background of the entire international system and international relations, by analyzing the role of domestic factors, such as various political forces in India which pursue the objectives of national interests, political leaders’ awareness on the international and domestic political environment under certain conditions, and government structures. By exploring influences and interactions of India’s domestic political forces in the three important historical periods of the country, the author revealed its general law of foreign policy decision-making, and summed up India’s foreign policy decision-making model, i.e. the “double helix” model.
