Indian Tantric Master Saraha and His Dohakosha

  ABSTRACT: This paper aims at making introduction of the legendary life of Saraha, an Indian Tantric master, and analysis of his philosophic thinking in the light of his Dohakosha. The characteristics of his thinking include: 1. He was opposed to Hinduism from the standpoint of Buddhism; 2. He advocated the doctrines of aruna and shunya from the standpoint of Mahayana Buddhism; 3. He maintained Sahajasaddhana from the standpoint of Vajrayana. In the last part of this paper, the author puts forth an objective evaluation of the position of Saraha in the history of Buddhism.
