India’s Asia-Pacific Diplomatic Strategy under the Framework of Great-Power Philosophy

  ABSTRACT: India has been in pursuit of great power status since independence. In order to achieve this goal, India has to expand its influence out of South Asia and into the Asia-Pacific area. In this sense, based on the evaluation of its own strength, India carries out a flexible foreign policy strategy to actively develop its relations with the US, China, Russia, Japan and ASEAN in the 21st Century. This paper reviews the tradition of India’s Great-Power Philosophy , India’s Asia-Pacific strategy in history and expounds India’s Asia-Pacific strategy and its importance to India.
