The Main Strategic Dilemmas of Pakistan in the New Era

  ABSTRACT: As one of the middle powers with great influence in South Asia, Pakistan faces both old and new strategic dilemmas, which seriously threaten its national security and interests.These dilemmas are mainly reflected in the following aspects: the continuation of the security dilemmas between India and Pakistan, the talibanization of its northwestern border area caused by the anti-terrorism war in Afghanistan, the historic reappearance of Pakistan-US alliance dilemma in the anti-terrorism war, and its characters as a weak state, which thus have resulted in the adjusting of Pakistan’s strategic goals and means according to the new geopolitical situations and international politics.
